Natural Cholla Wood Logs for Aquariums and Hermit Crabs

Cholla wood, a substrate source in aquariums, is the dried husk of the cholla cactus and is totally natural. Its soft texture and porous structure make it not only a distinctive aquarium decoration but also a practical element. It can be utilized as a foundation for attaching anubias, java fern, and aquatic mosses, or as a spot for small fish and shrimp to seek out food and shelter. Additionally, hermit crabs have a preference for cholla wood.

In this package, you will find three pieces of cholla wood, each measuring around 4 inches in length. The diameter of each piece can vary between 0.5 and 1.25 inches. The cholla driftwood tunnels establish a natural appearance and are perfect for hermit crab climbing decorations, as well as for providing additional hiding spots for shrimp and small fish.

This all-natural cholla wood is comprised of the dried husk of the Cholla cactus, boasting a porous skeletal structure and gentle texture. Each stick is approximately 4 inches in length and 1.5-2.5 inches wide. You can expect to receive a variety of sizes, both thin and thick, selected at random.

It is recommended to boil the wood before use in order to minimize the natural browning of the water and to allow the wood to sink more effectively, as it is quite buoyant and may initially float. This issue will diminish over time. Additionally, cholla wood is easily attached to live plants such as anubias, bucephalandra, or moss to create a natural sunken log effect, or it can be placed in reptile habitats for a desert-like appearance.
